solid bike tool-cable cutter July 23, 2007 JE (dublin, ca) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
pays for itself. no frays, crimps, will check back in 1 year, see how it holds up
don't even bother using regular cable cutters on bike cables- one cable change job will pay for this tool several times over- go buy new teflon cables and install them. make your bicyle happy and spend little $$$

A must have tool if you're going to do any brake work on your bike that involves cutting cable or housing. Regular wire cutters or heavy duty shears will NOT make the clean cuts required. This Park cutter snipped cables without frays, and it cut brake and shifter housing without squishing the opening. The tool seems well made and sturdy.
Go ahead and get it! April 17, 2009 R. Jones 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I always wanted a pair but as a DIY bike mechanic I had a hard time justifying the purchase for infrequent use. Well after installing my own drop bars with new shifters the money I saved by DIY gave me the reason to buy a pair. There is simply no substitute for these cutters around the average house. They are great and they'll probably serve my grand kids well someday too! Seeing how they cut steel wire I'm betting they'll make fast work of heavy gauge copper wire when needed.
